A major Cornwall road is closed following a multi-vehicle crash that has left ten people injured – with children and elderly among among the casualties.
The A39 has been closed to traffic in both directions as emergency services remain on the scene, with the road shut between Trispen and St Erme.
The crash and closure were first reported at around 12.28pm on Sunday and traffic is queueing in the area as a result, according to CornwallLive.
A Devon and Cornwall Police force incident manager said: “Ten casualties, including elderly persons and children. One of particular interest. No mention of life-threatening or life-changing.
“Road closure from Trispen to St Erme.”
There is currently no information on the number or type of vehicles involved in the crash.
Inrix, the traffic data company, said: “A39 in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to multi-vehicle accident from A30 (Carland Cross, Carland Cross) to Buckshead Roundabout (Buckshead).”
The road closure will add to delays for drivers in the county on Sunday.
The A30 is also closed in Cornwall due to planned roadworks.
That closure is in place between the B3285 (Boxheater Junction, Carland Cross) and Chiverton Cross Roundabout (Three Burrows).
It is currently expected to lifted in the early hours of Monday morning.
